About Us

All of our teachers are ASA qualified instructors, CRB checked with appropriate lifeguard training and have a wealth of experience teaching all levels of swimming.

Safety, of course, is paramount when dealing with children of all ages - so at least 2 helpers are present in the water with non-swimmers.

I founded The Flipper Club in 1991. Twenty-six years on I still get immense pleasure seeing children grow in confidence and enjoy the water, through carefully structured enjoyable, lessons.

Having taken my 3 children to parent and toddler classes, I decided to take the ASA Teachers course. I love seeing children build confidence and enjoy the water.

Jo Read

I have been with Flipper Club since 2015, first helping and now teaching. It is great to see the different age groups progress by having fun in the water and gaining confidence.
I have been swimming with Redhill and Reigate Masters for 17 years and compete for them a few times a year.

Jo James

I have been working at The Flipper Club Swim School on a Saturday morning since qualifying as a swimming teacher in 2013. I enjoyed swimming in my teens and competed at County level. Seeing children enjoy their time in the water and gain confidence , as well as developing a life saving skill makes my role so rewarding.

Sarah Louise Schofield

I have only been with The Flipper Club for a short time but already feel very much part of a great team. To teach children a skill that they will keep with them forever and which could save their lives is a privilege.

Ella Lawrence

Teaching swimming is a passion for me. Seeing individuals improve and gain confidence every week gives me great statifaction. Every lesson I teach is based around the FUNdementals of swimming. With every week bringing something new and exciting, teaching swimming really is a great joy. i look forward to seeing you at the Flipper Club.

I like to teach swimming as it's an important life skill and I love seeing the children progress in the water. It's rewarding and enjoyable to teach..

Paul Dewey

As a swimming teacher and parent I recognise the relevance and salience of this important life skill. I find it particularly rewarding whether teaching a beginner or a more advanced swimmer to see the progress that individuals can make in honing their skills. There is no greater experience, as a swimming teacher, than watching a beginner flourish through their swimming journey and emerging the other side as a confident and capable swimmer.
