We’re smiling behind our face masks! It’s been wonderful to once again open the swimming pool doors and make a splash. As we are still under government restrictions and are following both government and Swim England guidance for Covid-19 procedures, here’s a recap on what to expect when you return to swimming with The Flipper Club this winter:

  • Everyone entering the school grounds must check temperatures before leaving home and everyone entering the pool building will have their temperature checked on arrival

  • Please do NOT attempt to join swimming lessons if the swimmer or anyone in their household are displaying Covid-19 symptoms. You will be putting all other swimmers, parents and teachers at risk. Here’s a reminder of symptoms

  • Remember to fill out the pre-swim form before returning to lessons - sent to you via email

  • Masks must be worn by everyone on poolside. If you're not wearing a mask you will be asked to put one on or to leave the building (unless you’re exempt)

  • We realise the winter weather can be less than favourable but please understand that to follow government guidance our preference is for spectators to remain outside the pool building. This is to reduce bottlenecks on poolside and to enable social distancing at all times, please help us with this and wear suitable winter clothing to watch your children swim. Parents of older children can continue to drop off with the lifeguards and remain in their cars but do stay on the premises in case we need to contact you in an emergency

  • Please remember to social distance at all times. There will be markers laid out for swimmers and spectators to help you

  • Use hand sanitiser. There are plenty of sanitiser stations in and around the pool building if you don’t carry your own

  • Children to arrive ready to swim, with towel in a plastic bag (it can get very wet on poolside!) and suitable slip-on shoes where possible. Swimmers will be asked to remove their shoes on entering the building

  • We ask anyone entering the pool building to remove their shoes, especially on the rainy, muddy days

  • Our lifeguard will collect all swimmers from the grassed area near the car park 10 minutes before class, late arrivals will not be able to swim

  • One parent can accompany a swimmer to the pool with the group and lifeguard if required

  • Changing rooms will be available only if absolutely necessary

  • One parent can collect their swimmer from the changing room exit door

  • Swimming teachers will wear their preferred method of PPE, either a face mask, visor or both. Teachers have the space to socially distance on poolside, in such circumstances, teachers are able to remove their PPE to speak to the children and carry out demonstrations if they see fit

  • Equipment is sanitised in between lessons, feel free to bring your own noodles (for the younger swimmers) and swim equipment (for older swimmer and adults)

  • Despite the ‘new normal’, we’ll still be having lots of fun in the pool, so wear your smile and enjoy your time in the water!

If you have any queries about our Covid-19 procedures then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Thank you once again for your cooperation in helping keep us all safe.
